Dear xxxxxxx,
We arrived in Malinalco on this Day of the Dead … we had no expectations, just want to walk the streets.
Malinalco is not necessarily known to be the village where you have to go for the Day of the Dead. Maybe it’s a quieter celebration, but that’s just what I really wanted …
At the corner of an alley we met a family who had lost one of their loved ones just 3 months ago …
They invited us to return home to celebrate with them … in front of their altar, there was music, everyone was happy and laughed and we drank a little mezcal. Seeing all this I told myself that this gentleman (unpronounceable name … yes I really tried 😊 … in the end I got it but I forgot!) was dancing joyfully in the middle of all of us ….
We left two candles and prayed for this gentleman and for all those who left us too quickly … and after I took photos.
They were so beautiful, I would like everyone to see their beauty, their heart too …
It’s funny how as humans we can link with strangers just for a moment …
